KickStart Us For A Laser Cutter!

Just got accepted as a project on KickStarter to help us get a LaserCutter (engraver)!I set the goal for $2000, and I know there are several laser engravers for under that amount ($1600 or so). As the KickStarter project page also says, there is a company in Lake Mary called Laser Photonics that does this stuff. I shot them an email. Any advice, donations, suggestions, ideas, practical uses are appreciated!
